I SELL WORLDWIDE + 20,100 hits – thanks!

Standard

Whilst I have had my head down & fully immersed in setting up my new retail website – see previous post – the counter on this blog has been whirring round – and not only reached 20,000 – but added on another hundred viewings in the last week – thanks to you all – there must be something I’m doing right for once!

On the other hand – I’ve realised that I was being too coy in newz from julz and didn’t explain why I wanted you to fill out the form properly!  I also didn’t think about how to ask the questions on the form!

Part of the reason I’m investing in this new website, is to be able to

SELL WORLDWIDE

more directly to my customers.  Already, through etsy and ebay I would estimate that at least a third of my customers come from the US, and I also get quite a lot of people from Europe, Australia, and places I’d never have expected would have found me – and who must have seen this blog.

I also know, from the recent efforts I’ve made to send people who have originally bought via ebay, to my etsy shop, that you don’t like being redirected like that!

So – I am inviting all readers, from whatever part of the world, to fill in the slightly revamped form, so I can see where you come from, and whether you might consider buying craft supplies and/or gifts from me!  So far, I’ve only had responses from people in the UK!

And to thank you for giving me a bit of information, I will be sending all those who fill in the form a coupon for  10% off your first order on the new site – which is why I am asking for your email address.

Of course, if you aren’t in the slightest bit interested – don’t fill in the form – smile.  But if you are just a bit curious to see what I’m up to – it won’t take long – and you’ll be the first people I tell – when I’ve managed to work my way thro’ the shipping costings, and how to send emails confirming orders etc – that’s why its taking me so long – as well as copying my listings over from etsy, and adding in new stock etc etc……..

So –  to the slightly altered form…….you can write a much or as little as you like – the spaces will expand if you need them to.

Many thanks to you if you have filled this in

I will send you the 10% off coupon as soon as I open the new STORE.

Wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR

Isn’t it nice to arrive into 2018!  Well I think so anyway.  Last year was extremely disruptive, what with the landslip, and being evacuated from my house, and having to virtually camp in my new home, as the building work still hasn’t been done.  But things are getting better, and I am slowly sorting things out, and have great plans for this year – smile – which I feel strangely confident about.

So here’s to 2018, and hoping it goes well for all of us.

In the meantime, I just want to let you know that

my “twelve days of christmas” sale ends at midnight (uk time) on 3 january – thats tomorrow!

My “12 days of Christmas Sale” has started in my ETSY SHOP

As I explained in my last post, its actually 10 days and goes on until 3 January.

All my listings have been reduced by 10% for this period, and there is no need to add any secret code to get the discount – you will see the usual price and the sale price on the listing – so just buy anything you want NOW!  If you want to just browse, do ‘favourite’ any items you are interested in, so you can find them easily when you have made your decision.

Below is a small selection of the listings – there are over 100 of them – so you might well find something you didn’t know I sold! click here for my Etsy Shop.

I am aware that many of you are not registered with Etsy, but you can have a look without registering, and can buy as a visitor if you don’t want to give them all your information!  The sale does not apply to any listings I have on ebay, and in any case, I think all of them have just expired, and will be renewed after 3 January, or not at all!

Apologies to anyone looking for the Mawata Silk Hankies, they have been the most popular item ever since I got back to selling – I have run out of stock – and couldn’t find anymore on my suppliers list either.  I hope to re-stock as soon as possible.

I’m just listening to Radio 4 as I write this and it turns out that I am not the only person doing a little series on the TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS CAROL!  They are doing the 12 tweets of Christmas – also on birds!  If you want to listen to them, I’m sure they will be on the Radio iPlayer page of the BBC website.

I will, I hope, finally get round to writing the next episode of the series tomorrow – on the Three French Hens! If you want to see The Partridge in a Pear Tree post, click here!

A couple of free xmas knitting and crochet patterns you might like

Standard

Courtesy of Sheila Dixon’s Hand Spinning News for this month, I thought I’d pass on these FREE patterns she found!

strick-muster-Nikolaus-Stiefel-knit-pattern-Christmas-socks-013-3-1100x1100This one is to knit your own Christmas Stocking.  Of course the pattern is free because you are supposed to buy the exact wool from the German (I think) company that is giving away the pattern, but, as the final size is not all that important, I think you could easily use any 2 ply wool combinations, especially if you have spun them yourself.  The pattern on the socks is apparently Latvian.  You can find the pattern HERE.  You have to fill in a form to get it, but it is FREE!

The second free pattern is for making this rather interesting leaf garland.  If you crochet you will find it very easy – if you don’t, its worth having a look because there are very full instructions on how to make each piece, and you could probably make it yourself anyway!

You can find the instructions on Lucy’s blog here, and the overview and background info HERE.  If you do make it, let her know, I’m sure she’d love to see your version!

Well – that didn’t work did it!

My previous post

An Experiment – Buy this Moroccan style Lantern from this page …..

has had no reaction!  No one has asked me about the payment scheme, thro a paypal button on the actual blog post, nor have any of the team working on it got in touch with me to help out/answer my questions……

I suppose I was a bit too ambitious – I should have started with an item of small value of which I have plenty, and which is so light that it can be posted for about the same cost to anyone anywhere!

Am having a think about that!  Any suggestions?

LANT52_002In the meantime, the lantern remains unsold, and if you are in the UK and would like to buy it – you can still try out the paypal button.  I will refund you if there are any problems with the system.

In the meantime, I  have put up listings for two different lanterns – I only bought one of each

on etsy – click here to see it

and on ebay – click here to see it

I also have a couple that I haven’t listed yet – smile

An Experiment – Buy this Moroccan style Lantern from this page …..

Standard

LANT52_001Ever since WordPress announced that they had added a Payment Button to allow people to buy direct from a blog post, or allow Charities to take donations on a fixed page – I have been intending to try this idea out.  Having tested it in a draft page, it seems that they have a long way to go to make it a totally useful service.

Has anyone had any experience with using it?  I’ve tried contacting the team that were working on this project, but I haven’t had much luck in finding them.  It probably works within very specific parameters, but I would like to find a way of selling some of my craft supplies directly, to any of my readers, whatever country they come from.

And there lies the problem – there is no facility for listing different postage rates for various countries.

SO – This listing will show the price, inclusive of postage, for UK readers only.  You will need a Paypal Account to buy, as when you click on the payment button, it will take you straight thro to Paypal – altho you may of course use any credit or debit card.

UPDATE – 8 DECEMBER

I HAVE THE PAYPAL BUTTON OFF – TO AVOID CONFUSION – THE LANTERN IS NOW AVAILABLE AT MY ETSY SHOP.

I only have one of these for sale, so as soon as someone decides to take the plunge – I will try and make sure that the system doesn’t stay active!

I do have various other versions of these Lanterns, and some lovely gift items I’ve just got in, and will see how this works before I try selling any more items here – but you can find most of my stock for sale at my shop – julzcraftsupplies on etsy.
