All my xmas & general photographic greetings cards are now available to anyone -please see last post

Standard

My Flash Sale has now ended, and I will be posting out the orders today – thank you to everyone who participated.

FireHaving got all the boxes down and set up an area where I can put orders together, I thought I might as well keep these on sale – HOWEVER – AS WELL AS ORDERING THE SETS AS SHOWN, YOU CAN ALSO CHOOSE WHICH CARDS YOU WANT FROM EITHER GRID, AND THE QUANTITY YOU WANT.  (Grids are on the previous post)

All cards will be 30p each, when bought direct from me only.  Please email me at julz@julzweaving.plus.com with your order – I haven’t named the cards here (you can see some of the names in the tag list below)  but its probably easier to just give me the positions in each grid – No 1 Grid is the Christmas Card set – No 2 Grid is the General Card Set.  ie: No 1 grid, line 1, card no 3/  No 2 grid line 3, card no 1 – if that makes sense to you!

I will email you back with the total cost, including postage to your country, and if you accept this, I will put together a paypal invoice for you.  Cards will be sent out as soon as possible after you have paid.  (Should anything go wrong your payment will have all the protection of the paypal system.)

Just for info, I have put together the set of 2 fireside greetings cards and the original 8″ x 6″ postcard on etsy – you can see it here

Please feel free to share this post, as this offer is now open to anyone who sees it, now that club members have had first dibs – smile!

(I will let you know when you order if any of the cards become out of stock, or unreachable – smile – reference to my excavations – see last 2 posts)

I loo forward to hearing from you

The cards I found after my excavations – see previous post!

set of 4 xmas cards

After more excavations in the stock room, I had to give up, because it would have entailed pulling out so much stuff to get to the other boxes, that I just didn’t have the energy!  However, I did find a box of mixed cards that I used to take with me to craft fairs etc – so this is the set I chose to sell as Xmas Cards.

They are not obvious Xmas cards, but I used to use them to send out to people at xmas, and people really liked an alternative to the usual Merry Christmas emblazoned type cards, and, besides which they often framed them afterwards – smile.

My best seller was the log fire card – bottom right, and as I don’t have quite as many of those as I do the others, I thought I’d offer them as a set, but not promise 5 of each card.

You may notice that ‘fireside’ is similar to the red teapot card – that’s because they are two crops taken from one large format negative – they were taken old style, on film.  I took a whole roll of the still life set up I created around my living room fireplace – and for some reason, on some of them, the film slipped slightly, and I got double exposures – which I liked better than the original sharp photograph – so I chose that one to print!

I originally printed the whole image as an 8 x 6″ postcard – which is also still available – and only later, when I was choosing images to print as greetings cards did it occur to me to split the image.

I am selling the 4 cards above as a set of 20 for £6 – that’s 30p a card, and is definately less than it cost me to produce them!

While I was at it, I decided to offer a set of 10 randomly selected cards from the rest of the range for £3 – also 30p each. These are some of the cards available in that set – the only reason I haven’t included all of them is that I couldn’t find a grid template big enuf to take the rest of them! 9 of my other cards

All the cards are 5″ square, blank inside and printed on really good card, with nice, good quality coloured envelopes.

The reason I have put them up here is that the cards do not show up large enough in the email I sent out to my customers on Saturday, so I thought I’d direct them here so they could see them properly.

However, having done so – if anyone else would like to buy any – please get in touch  – julz@julzweaving.plus.com

You can pay with paypal, which makes things easier.

“Enuf Already” of the sales pitch!  I would be interested in any comments, positive OR negative about the cards – feedback is always useful.

FLASH SALES & CHRISTMAS CARDS ……..

Standard

redteapotAll of a sudden we’re being bombarded with pre Christmas adverts, emails, junk mail etc etc…….and oddly enough, I’m planning to do something too ……..

Well, its like this, I was idly listening to Evan Davis (the new Newsnight presenter – what do you think of him?)  on the Bottom Line (Radio 4) the other week, and he and his panel of business people were talking about Flash Sales.  I couldn’t tell you much about what they actually said, but it sparked a train of thought – and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.

I used to be a photographer – I say used to be, because the old ways have been so superseded by digital cameras and mobile phones, that I can no longer earn a living in photography – without doing weddings, which I always refused!

TRECASTLEAt one point I also earned some extra by selling my own photographic greetings cards, which I got printed up to very high standards, and on very good card, with really nice envelopes.  Sadly, the ‘art’ greetings card market also took  a dive, as people don’t bother to send nice little notes on nice cards to each other any more either!

I’m not moaning – just setting the scene.  I now am back selling stuff on ebay, and if it weren’t for digital and broadband, I’d never have the opportunity.

Anyway, I did sell quite a lot of cards, and even had some in galleries and museums, but that was about 15 years ago!

When demand starting drying up, I went to see a local business advisor – he was a lovely man – his business was selling bull semen – smile – and he gave me some very good advice.  He said, sell them all off to a wholesaler for 1p a card! – ie take a big loss and forget about them. I was selling them for around  £2.50 at the time.

lambActually he was right – but I just couldn’t do it – so over the years the boxes of cards have had small incursions into them, but there are still loads left – all stacked up in the store room (my 2nd bedroom) and its got so bad in there that I have just spent ages trying to move stuff to get to them!   There are some I just ain’t gonna reach at the moment – I’m looking for the ones I used to sell and send as Xmas cards.  So altho the whole set may not be available – I thought I’d go ahead with the idea of a Flash Sale on the ones I can find – as soon as I’ve sorted everything out and worked how how many of each I have.  The ones I know I have at present are shown in this meandering blog!

Why am I writing this now – when I haven’t got any firm news to tell you?  Because I felt like a rest from excavating the store room, and because I plan to have things ready within the next week.  At that point I will be sending a NEWS FROM JULZ email to all my customers, giving them an exclusive offer, and I will be selling the cards for less than they cost me to produce – but NOT 1p!  So I thought I’d give you a heads up.

Anyone who has not bought from me, or thinks they have dropped off my mailing list, is welcome to email me at julz@julzweaving.plus.com – mentioning this blog, and I’ll add you to the list.

In the meantime I’ve been having fun putting some of my other photos/cards/prints up on my old ebay account – which you can view by clicking on the orange lettering.

I’ve also been adding to my listings on my new ebay account (mainly spinning & weaving stuff) – and to my etsy shop (a more eclectic mix) – click on orange lettering to have a look.

That’s all for now ……will let you know more when I know it!

NEW STOCK JUST IN …..

Standard

Well despite all the changes of plans (see previous blogs) – THIS blog is to let you know about the new stock you will find on my ebay page – just click 85solway and also in my etsy shop julzcraftsupplies.

And WELCOME to the new members I have invited to join JULZ SPINNING & WEAVING CLUB by email.

For weavers, I have got some more of the ever popular standard cotton warping yarn  – hmm – the first problem – these pictures horizontal, and I’ve no idea why!  I’m still new to this blog site!

and some good linen yarn which comes in white, black, grey marble, blue marble & brick red colours……there are other colours available in the range, and if you make a request I will add them in to the next order.

For spinners, felters and papermakers, I have got in some new packs of silk & merino fibreswhich seem to be happy enuf to be vertical!

There are various colour ranges of each of these packs, which sell for £4.99 each – and you will find the variations on the single listings. They are really nicely packaged and would make great gifts for Xmas – if they sell well, I’ll order more in – there are other colourways, but I didn’t want to go overboard, before I knew whether they’d sell – so there are only 3 packs of each colour at the moment.

Both the standard carders and the mini carders are available, and can be restocked quite quickly if I run out of them.

For knitters and rug makers – I have got a small stock of pure Berber Wool – and will be listing it soon – just haven’t got around to photographing it yet!  I have had some work done in the house, and haven’t been able to use my ‘photography suite’ (a table in the study, blocked by boxes) – smile.  Will do it asap – but thought I’d put this blog up now, rather than wait until I’d done it!

For other crafters – I still have loads of stuffing materials and pre-felt and wadding.  Unfortunately, the cheap white shetland wool that has been very popular is now out of stock, (well I have about 200 gm of it left, but its not listed – if you want it please contact me direct) but I have replaced it with some brown shetland wool of the same quality.  The mohair fibre will also not be replaced as it was a special from the wholesaler – so if you want it, buy it now, as there is not a lot of it left!

You may notice that I am experimenting with new areas of craft supplies and also have stained glass grinders, and some sheet glass (I dabble in stained glass myself and wanted the equipment, so I bought some extra to sell) – soap making moulds and a great stainless steel soap cutter, (I also sell some natural soaps and shampoos),  baking and chocolate silicone moulds and artists supplies – some of which are on ebay and some on etsy.  (You don’t have to register on either site to view my listings.)

The SPECIAL OFFER – FREE POSTAGE on the Kromski 24″ Loom with Carrying Bag is still on – please go to the last blog to see details – to qualify for the free postage, you need to contact me direct, and NOT buy it on either site!  ie: I can offer you this price, because I will not be paying selling fees.  Feel free to try me on other items as well!

Oh yes, I was about to restock with the LANDSCAPE DYES (info on etsy only at the moment) but my supplier is waiting for new stock to come in – do let me know if there are any particular colours you want me to order for you!

To add yourself to the mailing list and become a member of Julz Spinning & Weaving Club (if you have found this blog by chance) – please contact me at julz@julzweaving.plus.com.

That’s all for the moment, please feel free to leave a comment, tweet this blog, get in touch etc

thanks

NB:  If you like the mini cards or business cards I attach to your receipts, see the advert below – If you happen to catch this blog before midnight on Sunday 23 September there is a discount of 25% off all orders.  Please take your time over the design of your cards, or whatever you choose, I find the site rather confusing and complicated – but the print quality is excellent – and yes, I do get commission!
