CALENDAR COMPETITION

Standard

Before I write anything else

I have just spent some time trying to work out how to increase the  font size of this blog, because its too small to read easily.  However the editing panel seems to allow me to do anything BUT increase the font size – EXCEPT BY USING PARAGRAPH STYLES AS ABOVE –  so I suggest you use the view drop down list on your browser to ZOOM IN.  (Is anyone knowledgeable enuf to tell me how to do it?)

Calendar Competition INFO

I had a few thoughts about the Calendar Competition I mentioned in the previous blog – the first one is that,  if you don’t read thro’  the whole blog, you wouldn’t notice it!  And secondly, whilst you might be happy to copy this blog to your friends, its probably easier to ask you for direct referrals on the form below.

So briefly, as I have lost all the email addresses of my previous customers, that I used to send you newsletters, telling you about new stock, special offers and to direct you to more information on this blog.

Ironically, I’m going to have to use the blog to tell people about the competition, but I will be able to compile a partial mailing list of recent customers, as well as going thro my ebay & etsy sales records that are still current enuf to be on the sites, but it will take a few days to do that, so for anyone who reads this blog ………

I need your help!

Could you please fill in the form below if you know anyone who would be interested in receiving my newsletters, and the craft equipment & supplies – for spinners, weavers, felters, knitters, quilters, dressmakers, soap makers, bakers, and other crafts that I cater for.  Current stock is listed on ebay and  etsy,   clicking on the names will take you to the sites.

I thought I’d offer prizes for

the 3 people who refer the most email addresses – but please don’t flood me with junk emails etc – I will check with each of the addressees you give me to make sure they want to be on my mailing list.  As I am trying to rebuild my mailing list, could all past customers who would like to be on it, fill in the form anyway, whether you want to refer your friends or not, and if several people give me the same names, that’s fine – I will still count the number of referrals you give me for the competition!

My customers are worldwide, so please fill in the form wherever you live, and you can refer anyone in any country.

You have my PROMISE, that this mailing list is only for my own use and will never be shared or sold to anyone else.  You can ask to be deleted from the list at any time.

The 3 Prizes

I have two calendars left of a short run I had printed of my own photographs – taken mostly of the Brecon Beacons area in South Wales – sample scans of a few of the pages shown below.

(NB: scans of printed material are always awful!)  You can click on the pictures to enlarge them, and there is a third picture on the previous blog…..I can’t work out how to put the pictures side by side, so I won’t put that one in………you’ll recognise it anyway!

I also have a t-shirt printed with the january snow image – so there are 3 prizes – the first winner can have a choice.  The competition will run until Sunday 10 February, but you can still use the form any time after that to make referrals.

In addition, when you next order, please remind me you filled in the form and I will add a small gift to your order.

calling all past customers………my computer died and I lost your email addresses!

Standard

yes its true – I didn’t back up my mailing list, and so when the hardrive died on my ancient mac ibook last week, I lost all sorts of things – including my mailing list – which had about 350 email addresses on it!

so I bit the bullet and was finally  forced to retire my much beloved, 2nd hand ibook – with all of 128 bits of memory on it and 4G hard drive, that has lasted me about 8 years – it’s in bits on the shelf of the repair shop at the moment – to be used for spares!

They were able to retrieve some of the data on the hard drive, so I didn’t lose everything – luckily I have still got most of my old  photos, and the esoteric collection of music I downloaded years ago, when the Limewire sharing system existed, and I could get them for free – smile!

But I lost all those stored emails that I didn’t bother to take off the system, or print out, so if you sent me an email at the beginning of last week, and I haven’t answered it – that’s why!

These include a few of the enquiries/orders I got for Kromski spinning & weaving equipment – see my last blog.

What with the recent snow, and having to get to the library to read my emails, I have been rather “snowed under” this last week and have got behind with all those things on my ‘to do list’, and as a consequence, the order to Kromski hasn’t yet gone in – because I haven’t been able to confirm the horrendous amount of postage they want to send it all!

And now I’m not sure who ordered what!  So if you do happen to click onto this blog, please get in touch with me if you have ordered anything, AND, as I haven’t yet confirmed the order, there is still time – a couple of days – to request something specifically – and I can let you know the price, and add it to the order …….!

and ……i’m gonna need those orders – smile – cos I’m writing this on my new – it maxed out my credit card – macbook pro!  Got in late on Saturday, and i’m still finding my way around it!

SO –  IF YOU HAVE BEEN, OR WANT TO BE , ON MY MAILING LIST – PLEASE DROP ME AN EMAIL TO

julz@julzweaving.plus.com

Also, if you know of anyone who has bought off me in the last couple of years, could you direct them to this blog please!

That also applies to anyone you might know that would be interested to get my occasional newsletters, with info about new stock, special offers for Club Members only, and “buy direct” discounts.

I thought as an incentive, I would offer a prize to anyone who refers the most number of people – by the end of the month.  Please ask them to mention your name & email address, when they contact me, and the two people who have referred the most friends or colleagues, (even if they have already been referred by others,) will get the last  of my very limited edition of 2013 CALENDARS .

I only printed a few of them to see what they looked like, and because I ordered them late – just before Xmas, they  arrived a week ago.  I had thought about selling them, but there are a few tweaks i’d make if I decided to re-order them, by which time the first month of 2013 would be gone, and its not a good idea to sell a calendar in February!

I scanned a couple of the pages – but scanning print never gives very good results.  Here are a couple of them, just for you to see what they  look like.  I think you might recognise the December image.  You can click on the pictures to enlarge them.

The mailing list is international, so obviously, postage anywhere is included, if you win one!  I’d also appreciate some feedback about the idea of a calendar, from anyone who reads this blog – the photographs are my own pictures – taken some time ago, and most of them are landscapes taken around the Brecon Beacons, in South Wales – not far from where I live.

pant-teg landslip

pant-teg landslip

I took this one down the road just before xmas – if you remember it rained and rained and rained, and the hillside above my road has been an official (threat of) landslip area for many years as there are old mining tunnels running through it.  There is some concern that the drainage system had not been maintained, and just as a christmas was coming up, thousands of tons of mud slid down the hill and blocked the road – and yes, those are full size trees in the middle of the road!

Luckily no one was hurt, and the only building affected is the old meeting hall, next to the chapel, which you might be able to make out on the far side of the slip.  One family lost their home – as they lived above the road, and the container you can see was about 30 ft above the road!  Other families had to evacuate on the night it happened, but are all insisting on staying put now!

The road, of course, remains closed, which is a minor nuisance in the circumstances, and the council are waiting for all kinds of reports before they do anything – Just thought you might like to see it – I live a bit further up that road, so luckily am not affected!

So, I really can’t complain about my little run of bad luck – or bad planning!

wishing you all a happy new year (again) – there is new stock on both my ebay page (85solway) and my easy shop (julzcraftsupplies) – for more info and working links, please go to the ABOUT JULZ PAGE.

hope to hear from you soon!

IT’S COMING ON CHRISTMAS, THEY’RE CUTTING DOWN TREES….

Standard

That’s a quote from an old Joni Mitchell song, which has been running thro’ my head in the last couple of days – and you really can’t miss the signs of  preparations for the festive period at the moment – not least the bombardment of pre-xmas emails encouraging you to buy … and I’ve just sent one out too ….. and hopefully you’ll find something among my craft stock that will catch your eye!

Please click on these links to see the full ranges – ebaymy etsy shop

I don’t list everything on both sites, there is some overlap, but there is a different range on each site.   If you want to put together an order that includes items from both sites, you are welcome to order them direct and I will even give you a discount if you do!  Just email me at julz@julzweaving.plus.com.

I’ve bought in a job lot of mixed coloured merino tops – suitable for felting and spinning – these are just a couple of them   which I have put on as auction listings on ebay (85solway) – so go and have a look – they’re all starting at 99p – and if you win a few lots,  don’t worry about postage, because I always cap the postage at £2.50 for all packages that weigh up to 750 gms (2nd class UK only), so buy as many items as you want, from any of my listings, and make sure to ask me for a revised invoice so you don’t pay any more.

I also have some fixed price listings for merino & silk fibres.

HAVE  SOME SPARKLE ON ME!

As a special offer for Club members, anyone buying unpackaged fibres – there are also some lovely mixed selections packaged nicely enough to give as gifts–  will get a bit of sparkle to add to the mix – have a look at the listing for trilobal fibre which is a transparent nylon fibre that reflects back the light and gives a sparkle to any  yarn you spin, and can also be added to your felt or incorporated in paper making.  I will add a small amount into you package FREE!  (It goes a very long way!) Please ASK for this by quoting the title of this blog!

I have also put new items up on my etsy shop – if you’re getting into baking for xmas, there’s a range of silicone bakeware, including really great oven gloves and silicone baking mats, chocolate moulds etc.  The cake moulds can also be used for making soap.

I’ve also added a new “About Julz” page so you know who you are buying from, and the Club Notice Board is available for any notices you want to put up, including adverts for xmas  fayres, or things you want to sell.

LAST POSTING DATES FOR XMAS – please keep in mind these are the dates that Royal Mail say they can guarantee that items will arrive before Xmas – there’s usually a bit of lee-way in them, and if you do order late, I will do my best to get stuff out quickly, as long as you pay 1st class postage.  If you are sending items on as Xmas presents, then please allow the corresponding extra time.

UK DATES:

2nd class & Recorded Delivery – Tues 18 December

1st class & Recorded Delivery – Thurs 20 December

Last Date for Special Delivery – Sat 22 December

Parcels – Thurs  13 December

INTERNATIONAL DATES:

I can also offer overseas customers a special service.  If you are buying a present for someone in the UK I will happily send it direct to their UK address, giving you the added advantage of only paying UK postage, and knowing it will get there more quickly than if you have to send it yourself.  I will also add a note in the package to say who its from and of course will not enclose the invoice!

I look forward to taking your orders – smile!

Don’t get too frazzled or overspend this year – just enjoy yourself!

all the best

before the op …….SOME SPECIAL OFFERS!

Standard

If you’ve been following this blog, you will know that I will be going into hospital on the 19th for a knee replacement op …BUT JUST BEFORE THAT…..I thought I’d fulfill my promise to re-stock the colours available in the Landcapes of Australia WOOL & ANIMAL FIBRES DYES.

I bought quite of lot of pots  and a bale of creamy off white merino tops (roving) for you to try the dyes on…You can also just use the 23 micron merino to spin and felt as it is, and the dyes for any other wool, silk, alpaca fibres you have and it also works on nylon and bird feathers.  If you click on the pictures you will get to the ebay listings, and they are also listed on etsy ……BUT …. don’t buy them there if you want to take advantage of the ….JULZ SPINNING & WEAVING CLUB SPECIAL OFFER…..

DIRECT CLUB PRICES ARE

£2.50 per 100 gm of the ecru merino tops (a saving of 49p per 100 gm)

£8.50 per 100 gm pot of Landscape dye (a saving of 29p each)

In addition, for UK customers, all parcels weighing up to 750 gm will be posted for a flat price of £2.50 (2nd class postage).

TO ORDER DIRECT please email me at  julz@julzweaving.plus.com and tell me what you want, and I will generate a paypal invoice for you.  Please make sure you have given me your name & address & phone number, AND the email address of your PAYPAL ACCOUNT.

If you want to add in any other items from my listings, please request them at the same time.

Overseas Postage & Packaging prices will be at cost for DIRECT CLUB ORDERS, and I will give you the total postage price before you pay –  use the postage on the published listings as a rough guide.

To make sure you get the dye colours you want, please order NOW, as it will be first come, first.  This is a time limited offer, as I will only take orders up to midnight on Tuesday 16 October – see below.

After the op, I will be recouperating for a few weeks, and rather than give bad service, I will be limiting the listings on ebay (85solway ) & etsy (julzcraftsupplies) to items that can either be posted in my local postbox – when I can walk to it – or despatched direct from the supplier.

My LAST POSTING DAY for current listings will be WEDNESDAY 17 OCTOBER, so if you were planning on buying something particular,  please order it in the next week, or keep an eye out for newsletters & blog updates.

“Normal Service” resuming will depend on how quickly the knee mends, and when I can drive again, but you should be able to buy Xmas presents in good time – smile!

You are welcome to drop me an email, or leave a comment below, if you want to reserve any particular items you have seen on my listings – I will be taking most of them down before I go into hospital…..the above dates assume the op isn’t delayed or cancelled.  I will also be planning what stock to buy in for the Xmas period and any requests would be helpful.

Oh yes, and I have finally got around to photographing the Berber wool, which is now listed on my ebay page (85solway).

Please also feel free to use the CLUB NOTICEBOARD which is looking very empty, altho I have to approve messages before they get published, I am quite happy for you to talk among yourselves – smile.

All the best to anyone reading this….

the advert box below is for anyone who wants to source other craft products whilst I’m out of action….I get a small commission from sales if you buy after clicking on it….I prefer to tell you that, so you don’t feel ripped off – other adverts for personal Xmas cards and business cards are on the Club Notice Board page…

Thanks

NEW STOCK JUST IN …..

Standard

Well despite all the changes of plans (see previous blogs) – THIS blog is to let you know about the new stock you will find on my ebay page – just click 85solway and also in my etsy shop julzcraftsupplies.

And WELCOME to the new members I have invited to join JULZ SPINNING & WEAVING CLUB by email.

For weavers, I have got some more of the ever popular standard cotton warping yarn  – hmm – the first problem – these pictures horizontal, and I’ve no idea why!  I’m still new to this blog site!

and some good linen yarn which comes in white, black, grey marble, blue marble & brick red colours……there are other colours available in the range, and if you make a request I will add them in to the next order.

For spinners, felters and papermakers, I have got in some new packs of silk & merino fibreswhich seem to be happy enuf to be vertical!

There are various colour ranges of each of these packs, which sell for £4.99 each – and you will find the variations on the single listings. They are really nicely packaged and would make great gifts for Xmas – if they sell well, I’ll order more in – there are other colourways, but I didn’t want to go overboard, before I knew whether they’d sell – so there are only 3 packs of each colour at the moment.

Both the standard carders and the mini carders are available, and can be restocked quite quickly if I run out of them.

For knitters and rug makers – I have got a small stock of pure Berber Wool – and will be listing it soon – just haven’t got around to photographing it yet!  I have had some work done in the house, and haven’t been able to use my ‘photography suite’ (a table in the study, blocked by boxes) – smile.  Will do it asap – but thought I’d put this blog up now, rather than wait until I’d done it!

For other crafters – I still have loads of stuffing materials and pre-felt and wadding.  Unfortunately, the cheap white shetland wool that has been very popular is now out of stock, (well I have about 200 gm of it left, but its not listed – if you want it please contact me direct) but I have replaced it with some brown shetland wool of the same quality.  The mohair fibre will also not be replaced as it was a special from the wholesaler – so if you want it, buy it now, as there is not a lot of it left!

You may notice that I am experimenting with new areas of craft supplies and also have stained glass grinders, and some sheet glass (I dabble in stained glass myself and wanted the equipment, so I bought some extra to sell) – soap making moulds and a great stainless steel soap cutter, (I also sell some natural soaps and shampoos),  baking and chocolate silicone moulds and artists supplies – some of which are on ebay and some on etsy.  (You don’t have to register on either site to view my listings.)

The SPECIAL OFFER – FREE POSTAGE on the Kromski 24″ Loom with Carrying Bag is still on – please go to the last blog to see details – to qualify for the free postage, you need to contact me direct, and NOT buy it on either site!  ie: I can offer you this price, because I will not be paying selling fees.  Feel free to try me on other items as well!

Oh yes, I was about to restock with the LANDSCAPE DYES (info on etsy only at the moment) but my supplier is waiting for new stock to come in – do let me know if there are any particular colours you want me to order for you!

To add yourself to the mailing list and become a member of Julz Spinning & Weaving Club (if you have found this blog by chance) – please contact me at julz@julzweaving.plus.com.

That’s all for the moment, please feel free to leave a comment, tweet this blog, get in touch etc

thanks

NB:  If you like the mini cards or business cards I attach to your receipts, see the advert below – If you happen to catch this blog before midnight on Sunday 23 September there is a discount of 25% off all orders.  Please take your time over the design of your cards, or whatever you choose, I find the site rather confusing and complicated – but the print quality is excellent – and yes, I do get commission!

yet another change of plan……

Standard

In the last newsletter/blog I was getting organised for my knee replacement op – I didn’t want to disappoint my customers by not being able to supply you for a couple of weeks whilst I was in hospital, and post op, when I wouldn’t be able to get around properly …….. and then I get notification of a change of date!

Currently, (and I now can only say this is the latest news, and it may change once again,) the op is now scheduled for 19 October, a month later than expected……I do love and appreciate the NHS, and hate the threats its under courtesy of our current government, but just at the moment, it’s making it rather difficult to plan ……..

However, unless you see a notice on my listings that I am away and will not be able to post orders for a while – its BUSINESS AS USUAL!

If you read the last post, you will know that I was about to put in a new order to Kromski in Poland for more stock, but as their delivery times are erratic, I thought it best to wait until after the op, and that still applies – however, I would still like to know what items you would like me to add to the order when it finally goes in……..so please get in touch if you know you want a specific loom, spinning wheel or anything else.  You can get info from the kromski website here.

In the meantime, I still have a number of the 24″ rigid heddle looms in stock and these are currently being advertised on ebay, with the carrying bag,  for  £159 + £13 postage – The loom is pictured in the last blog and to see the full details, please click here

CLUB members – or anyone who reads this blog – may buy the loom & bag direct from me POST FREE (UK BUYERS ONLY)

To buy direct, please email me at julz@julzweaving.plus.com with your order – don’t forget to give me your name & address & paypal email address –  and I will send you a paypal invoice, and promise to send you your loom within a day or two of receipt of payment.

If you want to pay by cheque, I will have to wait until the cheque clears – please just contact me to make the arrangements.

I will have a think about other special CLUB OFFERS to post – in time for pre Christmas buying…..and please let me know if there are any other items you would like to see on my etsy shop – etsy.com/shop/julzcraftsupplies.

I have set up a new page as a CLUB NOTICEBOARD.  One or two members have said they’d like to use this service, to ask for help and advice as well as selling fleeces, advertising events etc, but have not yet got back to me with full details…….you’re all welcome to use this service – as my customers are not only in the UK, but worldwide – notices can be  international.

PS – If you liked the look of the mini cards I attach to your receipts and would like to get some of your own business cards printed by the same firm – just click on the box below!  Be warned that it can be a bit complicated to design them – the last set I did took me ages – but that was because I uploaded loads of pictures to put on the backs!  For international customers – they deliver worldwide and are pretty cheap to use…..enuf of the plugs – I also get commission from any orders you put in……..smile.

All the best
